About Me

Get to know Dr. Holly Battrum, the founder of Sjökort Health & Wellness, as she shares in an interview the inspiration, philosophy, and personal journey behind her unique approach to holistic care. This candid interview offers a glimpse into the heart and rhythm of her work.

Why Did You Start Sjökort?

I started my own business to create better access to care for people. In traditional medicine, the philosophy often centers around a 1:1 care model, using one or two of our tools to help patients—when really there is so much more to this medicine. However, I began to see that this approach was limiting. I wanted to expand into working with this whole system of medicine—to go beyond the one-size-fits-all view, and incorporate more lifestyle, herbal medicine, and other approaches in a creative, holistic way.

This work is just as much about breaking barriers within myself and my understanding of what our medicine can do, as it is about reimagining how we care for others.

What Makes Your Work Different?

I’m a synthesizer, not just a specialist. I practice Traditional East Asian Medicine and use it to help with behavior changes. While many providers treat symptoms, I build a support system and act as a guide for my patients.

My work is backed by more than a decade of clinical experience, a doctorate in Traditional East Asian Medicine, and years of additional training in NLP coaching, wellness coaching, behavior change, and integrative healing. I help people truly understand their lab results and make sense of what traditional doctors often don’t take the time to explain.

I offer rhythm-based philosophies because the way we’ve been taught to approach health is often flawed: focused on weight loss, restriction, or swapping one addiction for another. My work centers on individualized care, helping you focus only on what’s truly necessary, not what diet culture or wellness fads say you should be doing.

Who Has Inspired and Mentored You Along the Way?

Other impactful mentors include Claudia Citkovitz, Zena Kocher, and John Pirog. And, of course, the people I serve are a constant source of inspiration.
